The Investigators of Down Cthulhu
Only one thing in this history pertains to our investigations:
We are familiar with the name Waitley, the wizard of the same name in old Arkam. The Waitley’s are supposedly a family of sorcerers. The book details a missionary of the name who visited a small tribe of Hotec Indians from 1837-43, before he disappeared. Shortly afterward the tribe disbanded, and the elders had reportedly vanished or died. The tribe was practicing savage pagan rites which Waitley encouraged. Waitley had brought with him something called the Ark of Vlaktos, which he said had connections to non-Christian sky demons. Hotec practiced the making of magic dolls to hold souls, and worshipped the serpent god Yig and the horned god Shub-Niggarath.
They lived in devil’s canyon, Mohave desert.
